Works For Me Wednesday- Kids Travel Packs
Where we live it takes us just about 45mins to get where we need to go (besides the food store or the nearest WalMart) such as the mall, Target, games around the county, etc. And, we're not in the car fifteen minutes when I hear, "Mommmmeeee....I'm hungry" or "Mommmmeeee...I'm thirsty". So, I fix a little travel snack pack for each little...with a few snacks (crackers, chips, a mini juice box, and of course "squishies" aka: fruit snacks) that they normally wouldn't have at home. A "treat" per se. They each get to keep this right at their seat and use at their leisure. This seems to keep them quite content...and "Mommmmeeee" too!!
And, since we travel so much, I also have a large box for our longer trips, which I then fill with a large size juice box, a small box of cereal (from the variety packs), a granola bar, and the trusted "treat" snacks. I also throw in a pack of crayons I have from Friendlys, etc. and a small pad of paper, and maybe a travel game/activity. (I got these plastic shoe boxes for .88 cents... their prices range from .88 to .99cents).
And, when the juice boxes kick in...my best tip of all: A travel potty. Absolutely, hands down, my best $9.99 ever spent...we have used this almost every time we're in the car. I'm not a fan of public restrooms... I'll use one myself, but never let my kids. (just a quirk I have...) And, it's so great to have when trying to potty train!!
