When I see a soul less fortunate than myself:
Less optimistic,
Less "well off",
Less healthy,
Less attached to his or her family,
Less assured of a peaceful night's sleep,
I can say, "there, but for the Grace of God, go I",
and be thankful
for what I have.
I can say, "there, but for the Grace of God, go I",
and be thankful
for what I have.
"If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough."
Meister Eckhart (?1260-1320?)
"Throughout history wise men and women have encouraged us to feel grateful for what we have. Why? Very simply because gratitude makes us feel good. When you're feeling grateful, your mind is clear, and therefore you have access to your greatest wisdom and common sense. You see the big picture."
- Richard Carlson, Ph.D., (1995)

You are so right! A little gratitude can make every situation more bearable.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Love the quote about "if the only prayer you ever say is thank you, it will be enough." We do have so much to be thankful for and when I am focusing on those things I am a much happier person!
