Single girlfriends. All we mom's have them. We have a special bond with them. We can go to Camp Rock and Jonas Brothers concerts with them (and our daughters) and still be "cool". We enjoy their fun-loving company, their stories, their trials and tribulations. Sometimes we can "live through them" so-to-speak. I have one of those girlfriends. She and my daughter have a special little relationship. They both love God, and love life. She's a wonderful, compassionate school teacher, and a great role model. (My daughter says all the time that she wants to be like her "when she grows up") She's quite enamored that she lives a life all her own, on her own. She is a friend, who, even though we're not together all the time, don't get to talk every week, due to both of our busy lives and schedules, no matter how different, when we get together it's as if we had just seen each other the day before. About two weeks ago she made the big move...from apartment to getting her own house. What a great feat that was of hers, and she was so excited about getting settled in her new place!
However, this past week, what could have been a tragedy occurred. I could have lost one of my treasured friends. As you can see in the picture above, a teenager drove her car right into her new house (that is her living room window)! She was home, but gratefully, not in her living room at the time. I am just shocked (as was she), but just so grateful that she is alive! (BTW...the teenage driver was fine, too).
True friends, go-to friends, are hard to come by. I have to believe that God was protecting mine. I know my prayers I say for my family and friends every day asking for health and protection are heard. It'll make seeing her alive and well next week that much sweeter!!
"God says, 'I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as LORD.' "
Psalm 91:14

Goodness! I am so glad your friend and the driver weren't hurt! What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. That must have been terrifying for your friend. And the driver as well.Praise the Lord everyone was uninjured.
ReplyDeleteThat type of thing happens more than you realize. I know someone who drive into a house. She was pushed off the road by someone trying to pass her and she had nowhere else to go. By the grace of God nobody was hurt in that case either.
